LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 7, 2003

TO:
Honorable Jim Keffer, Chair, House Committee on Economic Development

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB453 by Villarreal (Relating to a pilot program for early childhood teacher education and retention.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 302.0055 of the Labor Code to require the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to change the name of the T.E.A.C.H. Pilot Program which shall continue to assist teachers in retaining employment in the field of child care.  Although documents would need to be changed to reflect a new name for the existing program, TWC indicates this could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
