LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 7, 2003

TO:
Honorable Jim Keffer, Chair, House Committee on Economic Development

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB454 by Villarreal (Relating to an evaluation of the system of child care subsidy programs under the Child Care and Development Block Grant.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) estimates it would cost approximately $37,000 per year to study and report on the effectiveness of the state's child care subsidy programs funded by the federal Child Care and Development Fund, as required by the bill.

It is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing provisions of the bill could be accomplished by TWC utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
