FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 29, 2003

TO:
Honorable Tom Craddick, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB518 by Menendez (Relating to the service of citation by publication in a suit affecting the parent-child relationship.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would provide for substituted service of citation in certain instances. Substituted service of citation by publication would not have a significant impact on costs. The bill would allow a delinquent child support obligor or such obligor' business entity to receive state funds upon court orders. It is assumed that there would be no significant fiscal impact.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
