LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
Revision 1

March 3, 2003

TO:
Honorable Joe Driver, Chair, House Committee on Law Enforcement

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB522 by Lewis (Relating to the allowable operating expenses of certain 9-1-1 emergency communication districts.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to exclude costs for personnel necessary to operate a public safety answering point as an operating expense for certain counties. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

Local Government Impact

The Tarrant County 9-1-1 emergency communications district is the only district that would be affected by the bill.

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
