LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 21, 2003

TO:
Honorable Robert Puente, Chair, House Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB535 by Cook, Robby (Relating to a name change for and a change in the terms of the board of directors of the Colorado Valley Groundwater Conservation District.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would change the name of the Colorado Valley Groundwater Conservation District to the Fayette County Groundwater Conservation District. Terms for board members would be changed from two-year terms to four-year. The bill would set the dates for elections to create the staggered terms. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003. Current board members would continue holding office until the election of their respective replacements.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
