Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues
FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB556 by West, George "Buddy" (Relating to certain requirements in connection with the expenditure of child support payments.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would authorize a court to order an accounting of the expenditures of child support payments upon the request of a party. The accounting provision would only apply to child support monthly obligations greater than $750. Assuming that a portion of the parties who receive child support services from the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) request accountings, there would be an increased workload for the OAG; however, the increase could reasonably be absorbed within existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
