LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 13, 2003

TO:
Honorable Terry Keel, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB619 by Keel (Relating to notice of the presumption for theft by check.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code by changing the notice or notice in writing provision of the offense of presumption for theft by check to include regular mail evidenced by an affidavit of service.  It is estimated that implementation of the bill would not have a significant impact on the costs of state or local government.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
