LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 25, 2003

TO:
Honorable Frank Corte, Chair, House Committee on Defense Affairs and State-Federal Relations

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB682 by Delisi (Relating to permitting certain military dependents to qualify for automatic admission to general academic teaching institutions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

No additional spaces would be added to the institutions.  Only the selection criteria would be changed.  Furthermore, those students that qualify would be currently residing all over the world as a result of a parent's or spouse's assignment to duty and would most likely attend local institutions and remain close to family.  Therefore, it is likely this would affect only a small group of students who would not already qualify for automatic admission or would change their decisions to attend college elsewhere and instead come to Texas.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
