No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code as it relates to liability of in-home service companies and residential delivery companies for negligent hiring. The bill would require these companies to obtain criminal history record information for an officer, employee or prospective employee whose regular job duties require or will require entry into another person's residence. The Department of Public Safety would collect a $1 fee per request for criminal history information using the agency's automated internet website which would offset costs to manage the increased use of the website.
