LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 9, 2003

TO:
Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB722 by Guillen (Relating to the powers of the commissioners court in certain counties that have no incorporated municipality.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize the commissioners court in a certain county to exercise the same powers of the governing body of a Type A general law municipality and would specify some of those powers. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

Zapata County is currently the only county to which the specifications of the bill would apply.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
