HB739 by Pitts (Relating to the protection and use of intellectual property by the Department of Information Resources.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends Section 2054.052 of the Government code allowing the Department of Information Resources (DIR) to apply for, register, secure, hold, protect, and renew patents, copyrights, trademarks, service marks, collective marks, certification marks, and intellectual property and contract for such; as well as waive, increase, or reduce the amount of compensation secured by contract if it furthers the goal or mission of the DIR and results in a net benefit to the state.  Money paid to the DIR shall be deposited to the credit of the general revenue fund.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.
