LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 12, 2003

TO:
Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB756 by Menendez (Relating to requiring support of certain children over 18 years of age.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would provide for a court order of child support up to the age of 21 years if the child is enrolled as a full-time student in an educational institution. The Office of the Attorney General indicates that the proposed change would require some programming changes to the automated system, TXCSES; however, the cost of minor programming changes could be reasonably absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
