LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 14, 2003

TO:
Honorable Kent Grusendorf, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB762 by Grusendorf (Relating to the applicability to certain school districts of the minimum salary schedule for classroom teachers.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Education Agency, the bill would not have a significant fiscal impact statewide, because few districts currently pay salaries higher than the national average.  Those districts that do so find it necessary to do so in order to attract and retain employees.  These districts would probably not reduce salaries as a result of the exemptions effected by the bill.
