LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 7, 2003

TO:
Honorable Chris Harris, Chair, Senate Committee on Administration

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB778 by Naishtat (Relating to the offense of interference with an emergency telephone call.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code by adding to the conditions that comprise the offense of interference with an emergency telephone call.  The offense of interference with an emergency telephone call is punishable as a Class A misdemeanor, except that the offense is a state jail felony if the actor has previous convictions for such offenses.  It is assumed that the bill would not significantly affect the operations of state or local government.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
