LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 16, 2003

TO:
Honorable Tom Craddick, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB854 by West, George "Buddy" (Relating to the eligibility of public schools and libraries for certain funds.), As Passed 2nd House

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  Anecdotal evidence suggests many school districts and libraries have in place policies that meet the definition of an Internet safety policy.  Districts and libraries for whom the adoption of such a policy would incur significant costs could decline to apply for grants from the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board.
