IN RE: | HB867 by Jones, Jesse (Relating to minimum standards applicable to certain facilities. ), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted |
The bill would require nursing facilities and assisted living facilities to maintain temperatures suitable for the comfort of the residents in areas used by its residents in accordance to standards adopted by the Board of Human Services.
In addition, the bill would amend Health and Safety Code, Chapter 247, section 247.030(b) to require the facilities classified by the Board of Human Services as converting to "a large Type B facility" to conform to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101 standards that the department designates for assisted living facilities.
The Department of Human Services indicated that the bill would have no fiscal impact to the agency and would not change procedures or staff time from current certification and survey methodologies.
