LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 30, 2003

TO:
Honorable John T. Smithee, Chair, House Committee on Insurance

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB979 by Dukes (Relating to property and casualty insurance coverage for certain manufactured homes.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Department of Insurance would need to draft rules and assist with drafting a notice of hearing and petition and would need to prescribe the rejection and disclosure forms insurers will be required to use for the implementation of the bill.  The agency would also need to draft and distribute a bulletin to all Property and Casualty insurers regarding the new rules.  The agency indicates the increased work could be absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
