No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends Article 56.541(c) of the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow the legislature to appropriate the amount of excess money, certified for the biennium, to the Office of the Attorney General. The bill removes the legislature’s ability to appropriate excess funds to other state agencies and requires that the attorney general use the funds appropriated only for the support of victim-related services and assistance. The effective date of this legislation is September 1, 2003.
