LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 13, 2003

TO:
Honorable Geanie Morrison, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1057 by Alonzo (Relating to providing for a student who qualifies for automatic admission to an institution of higher education to maintain that status for transferring between institutions in certain circumstances.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require public universities to admit transfer students who qualified for automatic admission under the "top 10%" rule within the preceding four years, and who have completed the core curriculum at another instituion of higher education.  There would be no fiscal impact to the state because the transfers would not result in an increase in headcount.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
