No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 158, Local Government Code, to determine when a constable or a deputy constable who is defined by the county commissioners court as a county employee is covered by the county civil service system. The bill would apply only in counties with a population of 200,000 or more. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.
