IN RE:
HB1186 by Hegar (Relating to the designation of a weight enforcement officer by a commissioners court in certain counties.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 621, Transportation Code, to authorize a constable or deputy constable to be designated as a weight enforcement officer by the county commissioners court in a county with a population of 40,000 or more. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2003.

Local Government Impact

If a county commissioners court were to designate a constable or deputy constable as a weight enforcement officer, the county would incur the cost of training and certification for each person designated as such.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
