LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 9, 2003

TO:
Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1189 by Talton (Relating to alternative dispute resolution procedures in certain police departments.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Subchapter G, Chapter 143, Local Government Code, by adding a section relating to alternative dispute resolution procedures in a police department in a municipality with a population of 1.5 million or more. Houston is the only municipality with a population in excess of 1.5 million.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
