No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Alcoholic Beverage Code as it relates to the procedures for local option elections for the sale of alcoholic beverages, addressing requirements for petitions for an election, verification of the petition, contesting the election, and creating as a Class B misdemeanor the offense of misrepresenting the purpose or effect of a petition issued under Chapter 251, Alcoholic Beverage Code. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003 and would apply only to a local option election for which an application for a petition is filed on or after that date.
