No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add a new chapter to the Business & Commerce Code prohibiting the transmission of certain commercial electronic mail messages or the sale or provision of selected electronic mail addresses. The bill would establish criminal penalties, civil penalties, and civil liability for violators.  The act takes effect September 1, 2003.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
