IN RE:	HB1297 by Allen (Relating to limits on indemnification of state employees and officials.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends Section 104.003 of the Civil Practices and Remedies Code by amending Subsection (a) and (c) and adding Subsection (d), which will broaden indemnification for state employees and officials.

 

The bill takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2003. 

 

The Attorney General states that any additional legal work resulting from passage of this legislation could be reasonably absorbed with current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
