LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 1, 2003

TO:
Honorable Terry Keel, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1300 by Riddle (Relating to the release on personal bond of certain criminal defendants.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure by adding the offenses of murder, manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and intoxication manslaughter to the list of offenses for which only the court before which the case is pending may release the defendant on personal bond.  It is assumed that implementation of the bill would not have a significant impact on the costs of state government.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
