FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 26, 2003

TO:
Honorable Joe Driver, Chair, House Committee on Law Enforcement

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1330 by McReynolds (Relating to medical information on a driver's license.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Department of Public Safety to provide a space on a driver license application for an applicant to list any health conditions that may impede communication with a peace officer and to print the same information on the reverse side of the driver license.  The agency reports there are some programming costs associated with implementation of the bill, however, it is not anticipated that it would significantly affect agency operations.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
