IN RE:
HB1340 by Eissler (Relating to requiring certain governmental entities that operate toll highways or toll roads to permit the use of a transponder issued by another governmental entity to pay a toll.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The provisions of the bill would require the Transportation Commission (TTC) to establish a Statewide Interoperability Standards Advisory Committee to develop a strategy and make recommendations to the commission and the legislature on the establishment of an interoperability plan and statewide interoperability standards. It allows the Commission to adopt rules. The advisory committee is required to submit a report by January 1, 2005 to the TTC, Texas Department of Transportatoin (TXDOT), Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Speaker. The reporting requirements expire on January 2, 2005.

Based on the analysis of TXDOT, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
