HB1372 by Allen (Relating to the operation of certain Texas Department of Criminal Justice industries and private sector prison industries programs.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code with respect to the articles and products produced, and prison industry enhancement certification program wage paid, by Texas Department of Criminal Justice industries and private sector prison industries programs.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code by specifying that the TDCJ, the Texas Department of Transportation, and the Texas Building and Procurement Commission shall set the price to be paid for each license plate or insignia.  The bill would allow TDCJ to contract with a private primary or secondary school or a private or independent institution of higher education to manufacture, or sell to those nonprofit organizations, prison-made articles or products.  It is assumed that any work resulting from the passage of this bill could be reasonably absorbed with current resources.
