LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 16, 2003

TO:
Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1440 by Eissler (Relating to the frequency of public school teacher appraisals. ), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Current law requires that each teacher be appraised annually. This bill would authorize a school district to appraise a teacher on a less frequent basis if the teacher agrees in writing and the teacher’s most recent evaluation was satisfactory and did not identify any area of deficiency.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
