FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 29, 2003

TO:
Honorable Tom Craddick, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1470 by Hartnett (Relating to guardianships and the jurisdiction of certain courts; providing a criminal penalty.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend sections of the Texas Probate Code related to guardianships of incapacitated persons including the requirement that all guardianship and mental health matters be heard in statutory probate courts. This might increase the case load of local probate courts, but is not expected to have a significant impact.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
