LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 22, 2003

TO:
Honorable Robert Puente, Chair, House Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1628 by Keffer, Jim (Relating to the applicability of provisions concerning bond approval by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to certain water districts.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would exempt certain water districts from the requirement to obtain approval of water district bonds from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). There could be some administrative savings to the TCEQ since the agency would no longer have to review bond proposals from certain water districts. Savings are not expected to be significant.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on municipal utility districts of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
