LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 17, 2003

TO:
Honorable Dennis Bonnen, Chair, House Committee on Environmental Regulation

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1646 by Bailey (Relating to a study of the regulation, design, planning, construction, installation, operation, maintenance, and inspection of on-site sewage disposal systems.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to complete a study of the regulation, design, planning, construction, installation, operation, maintenance, and inspection
of on-site sewage disposal systems. The agency would appoint an advisory committee to assist the commission in conducting the study. In addition, the agency would be required to issue a report on the study. It is expected that any costs associated with the study could be absorbed within the agency's existing budget.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
