LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 12, 2003

TO:
Honorable Troy Fraser, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1692 by Driver (Relating to the regulation of interior designers; providing penalties.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code by establishing the Interior Design Practice Act.  The Board of Architectural Examiners currently regulates interior designers and it is estimated the agency could implement the provisions of the bill within current resources.

It is also assumed the agency would adjust fees to offset any increase or decrease in fee revenue due to the implementation of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
