LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 8, 2003

TO:
Honorable Jaime Capelo, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1694 by Chavez (Relating to required training in gerontology for certain health care practitioners.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require a licensed health care provider to complete training in gerontology if the licensed individual provides health care services to the elderly in the normal course of professional practice.  Failure to comply with the training requirements would be grounds for disciplinary action against the licensee/health care provider.

It is anticipated that state agencies licensing health care providers could absorb the costs associated with the bill for disciplinary actions within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
