No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Government Code, Chapter 74 relating to the assignment of visiting judges. The bill would allow a party to file an objection to the assignment of a visiting judge in a criminal case. The bill would make a retired or former judge who had been defeated in certain elections ineligible to serve as a visiting judge. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.
