LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 19, 2003

TO:
Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1815 by Goodman (Relating to court-ordered representation in suits affecting the parent-child relationship.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would provide for court-ordered representation in suits affecting the parent-child relationship. Attorney fees for such representation are paid by the parents of the child or, if the parents are indigent, the county. The Department of Protective and Regulatory Services indicates that training costs, resulting from the passage of this bill, could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
