TO: | Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice |
FROM: | John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB1849 by Allen (Relating to the revocation process for certain persons released from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on parole or mandatory supervision.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted |
The bill would amend the provision of the Government Code relating to the issuance of warrants or summons for persons who may have violated the conditions of their release. The bill would also require sheriff's offices to provide space for agents of the board to hold hearings. Charges against the releasee must be disposed no later than the 31st day after the date on which the warrant is issued. It is assumed that the bill would not significantly affect the operations of state or local government.
