HB1856 by Allen (Relating to the operations of the Windham School District.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill as substituted would direct the Sunset Advisory Commission to review the operations of the Windham School District.  The Commission would be required to report its findings and make recommendations concerning the continuation of the Windham School District by January 1, 2005.  Unless continued by the legislature, the Windham School District would be dissolved through the expiration of Chapter 19, Education Code on September 1, 2005.  If Chapter 19, Education Code were to expire on September 1, 2005, the bill would provide for the transfer of powers, duties, functions, activities, employees, assets, and so forth to the Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
