LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 26, 2003

TO:
Honorable Robert Talton, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1906 by Farrar (Relating to the fine or penalty for the violation of a rule, ordinance, or police regulation governing certain offenses in certain municipalities.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would limit the amount of certain fines or penalties that may be imposed by a municipality that has a population of 1.9 million or more.

Currently, the City of Houston is the only municipality with a population of 1.9 million or more.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
