IN RE:
HB1979 by Puente (Relating to preventing the discharge of untreated wastewater into waters of the state.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to establish criteria for evaluating sanitary sewer overflows caused by blockage due to grease. It would also require  the commission to develop and adopt model standards for grease management to be used by sanitary sewer system operators to address and prevent spills or unauthorized discharges that are caused by grease blockages in the collection system. Additional activities required by the agency are expecting to be absorbed within existing agency resources.
