Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 2, 2003

TO:
Honorable Chris Harris, Chair, Senate Committee on Administration

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2001 by Dutton (Relating to notice to an employer of a court order requiring an employee to provide medical support for the employee's child; providing penalties.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to send a national medical support notice to employers of child support obligors in appropriate cases. This notice is required by federal law. The OAG indicates that the state will be in compliance with federal requirements by the end of fiscal year 2003.

The bill would also require the OAG to provide forms to other parties, upon request. The OAG indicates no significant fiscal impact.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
