LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 2, 2003

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on Subcommittee on Agriculture

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2008 by Hardcastle (Relating to certain powers and duties of the Department of Agriculture and other entities engaged in agricultural activities.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would abolish the Agricultural Technology Account and the Farm and Ranch Loan Security Fund.   It would also repeal various provisions of the Agriculture Code relating to procedures and programs no longer used.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  County courts may see minimal savings because they would no longer hear appeals of Department of Agriculture decisions on proposed marketing orders.
