Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 28, 2003

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2051 by Smith, Wayne (Relating to permits for access driveways to certain highways.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to establish guidelines and requirements for the Department of Transportation (TxDOT) regarding the approval or denial of a permit application for constructing an access driveway to a highway under TxDOT’s jurisdiction.

Based on the analysis of the Department of Transportation (TxDOT), it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2003, and applies only to an application for an access driveway permit received by TxDOT on or after that date.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
