HB2081 by McReynolds (Relating to an exemption from The Texas Engineering Practice Act for certain public works.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill states that if a public work that involves structural, electrical, or mechanical engineering, and has a contemplated expense for the completed project of $20,000 or less, is exempt from The Texas Engineering Practice Act.  The Board of Professional Engineers indicates the provisions of this bill could be implemented within current resources.

 

The bill would take effect June 1, 2003 upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in both houses; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
