FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2159 by Garza (Relating to the creation of a Kickapoo deer hunting license.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This bill establishes residency requirements for hunting licenses for members of the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas. In addition, the bill creates a Kickapoo Deer Hunting License that is available only to a member of the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas, which allows license holder to hunt deer at any time of the year. The license fee would be $8, or an amount set by the Parks and Wildlife Commission not to exceed $75. Since there are only 650 members of the Kickapoo Tribe and not all of the members of the Tribe hunt deer, the revenue gain anticipated from this legislation is negligible, as is the cost of collecting the new deer licensing fee. Therefore no significant fiscal impact to the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
