LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 11, 2003

TO:
Honorable Kenny Marchant, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2168 by Dunnam (Relating to state purchasing of recycled products.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill relates to the use of recycled steel products in procurement procedures.  Although the use of recycled steel could result in cost savings to individual companies, it would not significantly affect the award of a contract for bid.  The Building and Procurement Commission would stipulate the use of recycled steel as only one of the components in its Request for Proposals (RFPs).

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
