FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 15, 2003

TO:
Honorable Bill Ratliff, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2199 by Solomons (Relating to the right of an insurance carrier to contest the compensability of an injury in a workers' compensation case; providing an administrative violation.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Workers' Compensation Commission indicates it could absorb the costs associated with the bill within its current resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Implementing the provisions of the bill would not adversely affect the budget of a political subdivision that self-insures unless the political subdivision is penalized under Section 409.021, Labor Code.
