LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 21, 2003

TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2343 by Kolkhorst (Relating to the transfer of certain state property from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to Walker County.), Committee Report 2nd House, As Amended

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would allow the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to donate and transfer five acres of land to Walker County.  The land shall be used by Walker County for the construction and operation of a museum, which memorializes veterans.  The Texas Department of Criminal Justice has indicated that any costs from implementing the provisions of the bill would be paid by Walker County.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
