LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 1, 2003

TO:
Honorable Kino Flores, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2442 by Flores (Relating to the use of electronic or mechanical card-minding devices during a bingo occasion.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 2001.409 of the Occupations Code to remove the 40 percent limitation on the number of individuals attending a bingo occasion that may use an electronic or mechanical card-minding device. The Lottery Commission has indicated it does not anticipate a fiscal impact from the bill.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote of both houses of the Legislature. Even though the bill has as effective date of September 1, 2001, it is assumed the bill would otherwise take effect September 1, 2003.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
